Are there alligators or snakes? Yes. But they won't bite you, we promise. If you're lucky, you might see one. Louisiana has an alligator hunting season, and about 30,000 a year are taken. This keeps the average alligator size down, and makes them less aggressive.

Are there places to camp? Yes. There are several areas in the Basin that are both State-owned land and high enough year round to pitch a tent and stay dry. Drop us a line for more details.
